Another Twin Cities golf course shuts down

Sundance Golf & Bowl Inc. in Dayton is shutting down after 44 years in business, making it the latest on a growing list of golf course casualties following a rough 2013 season.

A notice on the company's Facebook page says:

It is with great regret that Sundance Golf & Bowl, Inc. is currently closed for business.

Next week meetings will take place to determine if Sundance Golf & Bowl, Inc. can re-open. Please know that all parties are aware that time is of the essence to finalize an outcome. We anticipate to have a final answer within the next couple weeks.

Once again, on behalf of all our employees, we would like to thank all of our customers, men's club, leagues and local community groups for their support and loyalty over the years. But most of all we thank you for all the memories that were created at Sundance.

Lastly, thank you to the wonderful staff of employees and friends for their continued support.

Sincerely,

Brian Allen

Minneapolis-St Paul Business Journal tried calling Sundance for an update, but the phone was disconnected.

Sundance, which opened for play in 1970, employed a staff of more than 75 people during peak months. It's located at 15240 113th Ave in Dayton, about seven miles northwest of downtown Maple Grove.

Sundance is the latest in a series of local course closings. Elm Creek Golf Course in Plymouth closed to the public on Labor Day weekend to make room for a Creekside Hills housing development, and Hudson Golf Club in Hudson and the Red Oaks and Lakeview courses in Mound also closed last fall.
