Canterbury Park buys Sever's Corn Maze site, plans mixed-use project

Canterbury Park
An affiliate of Canterbury Park racetrack in Shakopee, which last fall scrapped a big lifestyle-center project near its Shakopee facility, is once again moving ahead with development plans.

Finance & Commerce reports that Canterbury Exchange LLC paid $1.44 million for the farmland at 2449 Eagle Creek Blvd. that for years has been the site of the Sever's Corn Maze. Corn maze owner Sever Peterson doesn't own the land, but leases it from the Hauer family.

Canterbury, which split its entertainment and development operations when it scrapped the lifestyle-center project, plans to build multifamily housing and retail on the site, but doesn't have a timetable yet — meaning the maze will be around for a few more years.
