More than $27,000 was raised during the 4th annual Shooting Star Scholarship Golf Tournament, which took place on June 5, 2015, at Mahnomen Country Club in Mahnomen. All tournament proceeds benefitted the Shooting Star Scholarship Fund, which was established in 2012 and annually provides scholarships for students in the White Earth Nation for post-secondary education.

More than $5,000 in prize giveaways, $3,000 in donated door prizes – including a $1,500 Custom Clock donated by Indigo Signworks – were presented to winners of various hole contests, on-course contests, and overall team contests, including golfer with the longest drive, longest putt, closest to the pin, chipping into the circle, driving a whiffle ball for distance, and more.

The tournament included 36 three-person teams, 18 holes, and prizes offered for the top-finishing teams in each division. Gold Sponsors of the tournament were Visions, Inc., ROI, Inc. and Buffalo Nickel Creative; Bronze Sponsors of the tournament were Global Cash Access, Inc. and Konami Gaming, Inc.; and Par 3 Sponsors of the tournament were Cadillac Jack, Sysco and Micro Gaming Technologies, Inc. (MGT). Food donations were also provided by Sysco and the cocktail tasting was provided by Johnson Brothers Liquor Company.

Tournament golfers had the opportunity to golf with professional athletes, including former Minnesota Vikings running back Oscar Reed and former Minnesota Vikings defensive end Bob Lurtsema, as well as KVLY-TV Valley News Live news anchor Mike Morken. A dinner and awards ceremony was held after the tournament at Shooting Star Casino’s Event Center.
