Table Set – Embracing Old World Luxury

Heads up, everyone! Event industry décor is changing. Say “goodbye” to DIY, burlap, and mason jars. Say “HELLO” to Old World Luxury.

The look now is opulent, updated, and individualized. Think refined, not rustic. Charger plates should be ornate and detailed. Imagine a piece handed down from generation to generation …. and gold certainly rules in current trends.

Dinnerware is carefully curated, each piece complementing the other. It’s important to create visual interest. Instead of all matching pieces, show a thoughtful selection as if the pieces were chosen specifically for your guests, carefully selected and brought home from world travels.

Consider colored glassware, or even gold stemware. In trending flatware, choose gold in all shades and finishes, including brushed gold, rose gold, and for the very bold, go black!

Raw wood tables continue to be popular, paired with a fantastic linen. This season, it’s all about lush richness, as fabrics become more and more detailed. Soft shades of champagne, blush, and taupe are highlighted with re-embroidered lace,  sequins, and raw fabric treatments.

For centerpieces, loose and seemingly "garden picked" floral is best showcased in a white or gold pedestal vase. However, if opting for candlelight as a centerpiece, choose metal pedestal candleholders, or a mix of mercury glass hurricanes. Put away those clear glass votives and instead, embrace a soft, Old World look with a patina finish that mimics a European family dining experience. This should to be evident on each table, no matter what the guest count.

Finally, every table should show a careful selection of precious items taken from the curio, including statues, small art pieces, and photography.
