Santorini Tavern closes in Eden Prairie

Santorini Tavern in Eden Prairie has closed following a decision by the Nicklow family to sell.

The restaurant was sold after Tony Nicklow decided to retire, according to a family member who declined to be named. The family member said the new restaurant, at 13000 Technology Drive, will reopen soon under new management.

Tony managed the Greek-themed restaurant that his brother, Bill, founded in St. Louis Park in 1995 and moved to Eden Prairie in 2008. Bill died last year after a serious fall at his home, according to his obituary.

Santorini Tavern has a post on its Facebook page explaining the closure:

"GOODBYE GOOD FRIENDS... YES - IT IS TRUE the NICKLOW family has sold SANTORINI and is now officially closed- starting today... Thankyou for all your years of service and support - Stay tuned from the new owner on more information and the new plans....OOOOOPPPPPAAA!!"

The Nicklow family owns the property, which is next to the Southwest Station park and ride transit facility and last sold in May 2008 for $3.4 million, according to Hennepin County property records.
