metroConnections Receives Best Innovative Event Award

The Association of Destination Management Executives (ADME) awarded metroConnections with the 2008 ADME Achievement Award; Best Innovative Event – $50,000 and under.

metroConnections received this prestigious award for an event they designed and executed for a client in the spring of 2008. Only programs that occurred between September 1, 2007 and August 31, 2008 were eligible for this award. This marks the second year that metroConnections has won in this category.

metroConnections was hired to theme and execute a reception and dinner in Miami, Fla. in conjunction with the company’s 25th Anniversary. Since the Meeting Planner is notorious for creating memorable experiences for her guests, she wanted something different for her event – not the typical “South Beach” theme that often is associated with this Florida city. So metroConnections carefully calculated a crime scene and high-tech laboratory right out of the TV show CSI: Miami with the subtitle “25 years of Industry Leadership.”

Sam Thompson, President and founder of metroConnections, accepted the award at the Westin Riverwalk Hotel in San Antonio, Texas during ADME’s annual conference on March 3. Also nominated in this category were Destination King of Nashville, Tenn. and The Key Event Group of Nashville, Tenn.
