Old Log Theater to be sold and continue operation

Old Log Theater
The Stolz family, owners of the Old Log Theater in Excelsior, MN, have signed a purchase agreement to sell the historic theater and its property to Excelsior Entertainment, LLC, which is owned by Greg and Marissa Frankenfield.

The Old Log Theater is one of the oldest and most popular theaters in the United States and the Frankenfield's desire to continue the legacy built up by Don Stolz and his family for 73 years was a key consideration in the decision to sell.

"This theater has given our family and the community great joy over the years but we finally came to the conclusion that's it's time to pass the torch on to a new generation of leadership so it will continue into the future", said Don Stolz.

Greg Frankenfield is cofounder and CEO of Magenic Technologies, a major Minnesota information technology firm. Both he and his wife, Marissa, are theater enthusiasts and producers who have been on the boards of several local theatre organizations and are invested in productions such as "Lend Me a Tenor" in London's West End and Tony award winning "Peter and the Starcatcher" on Broadway.

"To be able to continue on the tradition of professional, live theater at the Old Log has been an interest of ours for some time", said Mr. Frankenfield.  "My wife and I are honored to have the opportunity to do so. We have discussed this with the Stolz family on and off for a while now and our only interest has ever been to ensure that the Old Log remains a vibrant regional and artistic community asset."

Specifics on upcoming productions will be announced shortly.
