Owatonna – The Minnesota Senior Games – More than an Event  ... Promotes a Healthy Lifestyle. The 2013 Minnesota Senior Games is not just another event that Owatonna will host this summer; it is an event that promotes healthy living for our fastest growing population, decision-makers, investors, travelers, and baby-boomers in the United States!

If you're an adult between ages 50-99 the 2013 Minnesota Senior Games wants YOU! The Minnesota Senior Games will be held in Owatonna, MN this June 19th-22nd!!!

The Minnesota Senior Games is similar to that of a Senior Olympics with adults between ages 50-99 competing in sporting events that include:

  • Cycling
  • Golf
  • Horseshoes
  • Pickleball
  • Racquetball
  • Road Race
  • Shuffleboard
  • Softball
  • Swimming
  • Table Tennis
  • Tennis
  • Track & Field
  • Triathlon
  • Volleyball
  • Rifle
  • Shotgun

The National Senior Games Association, the organization behind the Minnesota Senior Games, is dedicated to helping all individuals get fit. Their goal is to help adults ages 50 and better to get going and keep going! Physical activity and regular exercise have proven to decrease the risk of heart disease, and can also decrease your risk of stroke, colon cancer, diabetes and high blood pressure. Exercise doesn’t have to be boring, sign-up for the Minnesota Senior Games to enjoy physical activity with others that want to share your same healthy living experience! The MN Senior Games was most recently held in Mankato, MN in 2012 and brought athletes from as far as Alabama, Florida, Texas, and California as well as the Midwest! In 2013, it is anticipated that 250-450 athletes from around the country will descend upon Owatonna to compete in the Minnesota Senior Games over a four-day program. Owatonna has many athletes and we hope that the hosting the Minnesota Senior Games here will bring them out to play! Registration booklets will be available after March 1st and will get sent to all previous Senior Games participants. For anyone locally interested in signing up for participating on the Games, registration booklets will be available at the Owatonna Chamber of Commerce & Tourism, Senior Place and Owatonna Parks & Recreation Office. Together with SeniorPlace Inc., the Owatonna Tourism Department, Owatonna Parks & Recreation and an energetic group of local volunteers, planning for the MN Senior Games has begun! The committee is charged with everything from tournament scheduling, fundraising, registration and social events for the athletes. All of Owatonna will be showcased well to the Minnesota Senior Game athletes with daily check-in for athletes taking place at the Four Seasons Centre, sporting events taking place at our local schools, parks, golf course, and even reaching out to our local gun and archery clubs. Athletes will also get a chance to take in the sights and attractions while here for the Games and enjoy social events hosted by our local planning committee.

Sponsorships for the MN Senior Games are also available. Sponsorship will help provide MN Senior Games apparel and medals to the athletes, provide publicity, marketing and registration to athletes, and showcase Owatonna during social activities and the Celebration of Athletes event. Sponsorships or donations can be made as cash, product, and service, in-kind or by volunteering to help run the various events of the MN Senior Games.
