Community Brands Acquires Event-Tech Companies Core-apps and TripBuilder Media

Community Brands, parent company of the Expo Logic suite of tools for trade shows and events, has acquired two well-known event-app providers. Core-apps, a decade-old pioneer in the event-apps space, and TripBuilder Media, which caters to associations with its Mobile 365 platform, are now part of the Community Brands family of cloud-based solutions for associations, nonprofits and schools. The financial terms of the deals haven't been publicly disclosed.

Among the suite of tools already provided by Community Brands are event registration, on-site check-in (including facial recognition), badge printing, live-event capture and streaming, event fundraising and lead retrieval. The newly acquired mobile-app platforms can immediately complement the solutions already offered by the company. "With Core-apps and TripBuilder Media, together with our existing technology, we are helping organizations deliver a personalized attendee experience and reduce complexity for event planners," said Community Brands president and CEO Jean-Paul Guilbault. "We extend a warm welcome to the employees, customers and partners of these two companies."

Core-apps, which cites more than 2.6 billion downloads of its apps over the last 10 years, has remained an event-app innovator. The company also offers beacon solutions and an augmented reality feature designed to boost attendee engagement with exhibitors and sponsors. "We're excited to further enhance the enterprise capabilities of the impressive event tech footprint of Community Brands," said Core-apps co-founder and CEO Jay Tokosch.

TripBuilder Media focuses on year-round attendee engagement as well as live events with its Mobile365 platform. Its EventMobile app seeks to drive attendee interaction with targeted messaging, peer-to-peer networking, surveys and polling, and it provides personalized session tracking and event city guides as well. The overall platform aims to foster the community. "Engagement shouldn't end when an event does, and our mobile solutions reflect that philosophy," noted TripBuilder Media president Steven Tanzer.

Community Brands has supported more than 200,000 events over the last 12 months. The company's core customer base consists of associations, nonprofits, schools and faith-based organizations, many of which integrate event technology with membership, data and/or payment solutions. The company has a growing list of corporate customers as well.
