Destinations International announces partnership on event cancellation programme

On 9 January 2023, CVBs resource Destinations International announced a partnership with Anderson Benson – a Nashville-based MICE insurance and risk management company.

According to the businesses, the aim of the partnership is to collaborate on event cancellation insurance and risk management policy options to protect destination organisations. The programme will be exclusively available to Destinations International members and members’ clients globally.

The programme will include coverage to protect budgeted costs and expenses, or revenue should an event be cancelled, abandoned, or disrupted due to reasons beyond the destination organisation’s control.

Coverage would provide protection against traditional force majeure occurrences such as adverse weather and terrorism. According to the businesses, the policies can also guard against recent event cancellation issues like civil commotion, national mourning, travel boycotts and bans, among others.

The partnership will also include networking and educational opportunities across Destinations International’s resources and tools.

Don Welsh, president and CEO of Destinations International, said: “In today’s climate, destinations of all sizes must be prepared for potential risks that may be out of a destination’s control “(By) aligning with an insurance broker and risk management firm, we are able to provide our members with an invaluable resource and tool.”

“This Bespoke Destinations International Programme will respond to the ever-changing environment through collaboration with its members,” commented George Anderson, president of Anderson Benson.
