Suites, Rooms and Other Minnesota Hotel Offerings

Despite loosening belts on budgets, it’s still wise to be as cost conscious as possible when it comes to selecting a Minnesota hotel for your meeting or event. Still, it’s important to remember that old caveat — you get what you pay for. Before choosing accommodations, consider what’s being offered, and of course, never pay for something you don’t need and won’t use.

So, where to begin? There are so many properties out there that the vetting process for site selection could take years. And who has that kind of time? Instead, refer to the following when you’re choosing accommodations and need to pinpoint the best fit for your meeting or event.

Take it to the limit — Limited Service Hotel Event Facilities

Limited service does not mean limited quality. In fact, many of the major hotel chains now operate limited service hotels. These aren’t old-school, small town, mom-and-pop establishments. On the contrary, most are exceptionally pleasant, clean and comfortable. Offering scaled down or fewer amenities than full service hotels, lodging at these properties will often still include a continental breakfast, microwaves, coffee pots and mini fridges in the rooms, cable TV and even Wifi. Some of the properties will even offer a small business center, fitness facility or a pool. Most notably absent at these establishments are any on-site restaurant or lounge. However, a limited service hotel generally offers a more economical price tag to make up for any lack of amenities, and there are usually restaurants close by.

More and more these days, limited service hotels offer suites, which make doubling up a money-saving option. Longer stays can also result in better rates. In the end though, limited service event facilities are ideal for when your meeting or event is off site, such as a convention, or for when you need overflow accommodations. Then you simply need a place close to the event where your attendees can enjoy a comfortable room in which to rest, relax and refresh.

Full steam ahead — Full Service Hotel Event Facilities

Moving ahead with a full service property opens up a wide range of possibilities and amenities for your attendees to enjoy. Most full service hotels are replete with advantages, including restaurants, bars/lounges, retail shops, ball rooms for large gatherings and breakout rooms for smaller meetings. Many offer additional perks, such as room service, an on-site spa, swimming pool, 24-hour business center, or valet services such as shoe polishing or dry cleaning. In addition, you can expect more upscale décor in sleeping rooms, as well as large TVs featuring cable and other movie choices, along with high-speed Wifi.

Full service hotels are wonderful for longer stays as they possess many of the comforts of home (as well as some you might not even get at home.) Select a full service hotel for your attendees if they’ll be staying several nights, and/or you’re meeting or event takes place on site. Often times, hotels will offer you a discounted rate package when you book both your event and your attendees’ sleeping rooms at their establishment.

Looking for full service hotels in town? Why not start by aiming your site selection on one of many fine downtown hotels such as aloft Minneapolis or new The Commons Hotel. If your sites on the suburbs, you may want to consider the Radisson Hotel Bloomington by Mall of America, the new Minneapolis Marriott Northwest or Mystic Lake Casino Hotel. Or check our our searchable supplier vendor directory for a complete list of Minnesota Full Service Hotel Event Facilities.

A History of Quality — Historic Hotel Event Facilities

A hotel that is at least fifty years old, has maintained its historic integrity, architecture and ambiance and is either listed or eligible for the National Register of Historic Places or recognized locally as having historic significance, is considered a historic hotel. There are more than 240 of these properties throughout the US, the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

These lovely treasures can be discovered in quaint small towns or large, bustling metropolitan areas. Because each is unique to its history and heritage, it’s difficult to generalize and label them all either limited or full service hotels. Many of them do have food and restaurant services on site. Quite often, they contain business centers or meeting rooms to accommodate an on-site gathering and may be the perfect answer to your hotel site selection.

Historic hotels offer attendees a distinctive experience and are especially ideal for events or meetings with a theme which can be tied into the hotel’s history. Rates vary, of course, and while sleeping rooms might not be as spacious or technologically optimized as full-service hotel rooms, they more than make up for it with ambience, comfort and charm.

Go back in time and explore the magnificence of times gone by when you book at one of many Minnesota Historic Hotel Event Facilities like the St. James Hotel, conveniently located just south of the Twin Cities.
