A friendly face is returning to the Westin Denver Downtown.

John Everett — who worked as the hotel manager there from September 2001 to March 2004 when it was formerly called the Westin Tabor Center — has been named general manager, the Westin Denver Downtown announced Monday.

Everett took the lead last week following the departure of Tom Curley, the area manager of the hotel's parent company Stanford, Connecticut-based Starwood Hotels and Resorts, who left to also serve as general manager of the Westin Denver International Airport.

“John’s love of Colorado, previous experience in this market and past relationships with many in the hospitality industry will enable him to make an easy transition back to Denver," Curley said.

Everett will vacate his current position as the general manager of the Westin Galleria in Dallas. During the 11 years Everett headed up that hotel it received top ratings for guest service and satisfaction and underwent an $80 million renovation.

Everett is also the vice president of the Denver Metro Hotel Association, a former board member of the Denver Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau (now VisitDenver), the North Texas Hotel Association and the North Dallas Chamber.

Everett said he is thrilled to return to Colorado because of his passion for running and skiing.
