Tech Trends — What to Watch For

Every day it seems there’s some new tech emerging that’s going to make meeting and event planning easier, faster, and more engaging for attendees (including our very own, soon-to-launch, refreshed website with even better features and functionality). As you look ahead to your upcoming meetings and events, consider getting in on these tech trends:

•    Live streaming video. Many social media channels as well as apps have enhanced their streaming video capabilities, making interaction and engagement with event attendees an exciting and enriching experience.

•    Virtual reality. It’s not just for sci-fi movies anymore. Virtual Reality (VR) tools will allow for virtual site visits, tradeshow engagement, event gamification, and more.

•    Facial recognition and analysis technology. This kind of tech could determine attendees’ gender, approximate age, ethnicity, mood and even identity for those already in a photo database. It can also provide insights into attendees’ behavior, interests, and attitudes.

•    Sensory wristbands. These can measure an attendee’s excitement in real time through skin response, heart rate and other biometric measurements.

•    Mobile engagement. While apps and interactive mobile tech isn’t new, it continues to trend for meeting and events. The ubiquitous presence of smart phones makes it a must-have for inclusion in any meeting or event.

•    Drones. There’s just something really exciting about capturing images from above an event. The unique perspective gives planners and attendees a new view of what’s happening.
