The 252-room Limelight Boulder, operated through a partnership between developers Aspen One and the University of Colorado – Boulder, has opened in the happening college town. Aspen One says the Limelight, which was built to LEED Gold standards, is the largest all-electric hotel in the country.
"The opening of Limelight Boulder represents an exciting and meaningful milestone in the continued expansion and evolution of the Limelight brand, joining our growing portfolio of premium destinations," said Jeff Toscano, Aspen's CEO. "We are so proud to be joining the Boulder community, opening our doors in collaboration with CU Boulder and welcoming guests into a stunning new space where modern design meets the area's natural beauty."
A host of amenities
The guest rooms' thoughtful touches include expansive windows framing the mountains or views of downtown Boulder. In-room extras include safes, plush bathrobes and humidifiers.
The property features 26,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, designed by Bentel and Bentel, and crowned by a 15,000-square-foot ballroom.
"The Limelight Hotel Boulder will provide an expansive meeting and event space for our faculty and community leaders to showcase the groundbreaking research and creative work taking place on our campus and throughout Boulder to peers and collaborators," said CU Boulder chancellor Justin Schwartz. "We are excited to partner with a company like Limelight that shares our sustainability values and has thoughtfully incorporated design features that reflect those values."
Dining options
The property's on-site Ajax Tavern aims for an après-ski vibe, combining alpine sophistication with Boulder's blend of adventure, authenticity and relaxed charm. The menu features such choices as the Ajax wagyu double cheeseburger and Ajax truffle fries, along with butternut-squash ravioli and a roasted half chicken.
An outpost of Crepe Therapy Café, a beloved Aspen and Snowmass crêperie helmed by James Beard–honored chef Mawa McQueen, will open in October serving wellness-minded, artisanal crêpes made from high-quality sustainable ingredients and inspired by McQueen's Parisian upbringing. Highlights include the crème brûlée crêpe (vanilla-cream custard and brown sugar brûlée), and the Boulder crêpe (gruyère and Swiss cheeses with rotisserie chicken, basil pesto and exotic mushrooms).
Entertainment and outdoor programming
Limelight Live, the brand's new entertainment program, celebrates both emerging and established musical artists via weekly performances as well as large-scale, seasonal concerts, transforming the hotel's spaces into premier destinations for gathering.
The property also is launching Limelight's Adventure Architects program, where local experts craft adventures that showcase the destination. Tailored to the interests and preferences of guests, Limelight's Adventure Architects offer customized itineraries enhanced by luxury transportation in Audi vehicles
Guests also will be able to relax in the heated rooftop pool overlooking the mountains, gather around cozy outdoor fire pits, or enjoy the state-of-the-art fitness center and the game room.
Right on campus, Limelight Boulder puts guests in the city's vibrant center — from the Pearl Street Mall's shops and restaurants to outdoor escapes like hiking the Flatirons, kayaking Boulder Creek and exploring more than 300 miles of nearby trails.
